As I havent been able to use Google Talk yet, I still revel in the older Google toys such as Google Maps. I've seen some people do some pretty cool things with it such as map apartments/houses for rent, for example and any number of other amazing things. Now, not being Geeky enough to do it myself, I present my idea to the community. I want to use Google Maps to car pool. Gas prices, environment, use any reason you want, but lots of people need and want to drive less. SO. Is there any way to mod Google Maps into a carpool/rideshare finder? I put in my 'from' and 'to', someone else puts a 'from' and 'to' that is on my way and when they search they find me. Let me know.
I've just recently seen ridefinder, but didnt find it that useful, as my idea would surely be. I thought about the privacy issues, but I doubt anyone would put in their exact addresses, atleast I know I wouldnt, but would give you enough to contact them and figure out if things would work. Housingmaps.com is great, thats how I found all the apts and houses I looked at while house hunting and eventually found my place. Its wonderful to have a picture of exactly where something is before you go and realize that its in the ghetto. So who's going to make my dream a reality??
